New Neo Geo Pocket Announced by SNK Playmore (Kind Of)

SNK Playmore has announced a new handheld device that will play Neo Geo classics such as Metal Slug and King of Fighters ‘94. There isn’t any news on pricing or a release date just yet, only a few images of the device.

The classic joystick style analog stick will return from the Neo Geo Pocket and of course the standard four button layout with menu and start buttons also.

On its front it has a resemblance to current smart phones and sports an AV Out slot, USB connectivity and perhaps a rechargeable battery. Also on the top there are four shoulder buttons which should add extra functionality when it comes to control options.

With an SD card slot, you should be able to store several other games, besides the 20 that are preloaded onto the device, they are:
- World Heroes
- Ultimate 11
- Top Player’s Golf
- Sengoku
- Nam-1975
- Mutation Nation
- Last Resort
- King of Monsters
- Frenzy
- Cyber Lip
- Fatal Fury Special
- Art of Fighting
- Super Sidekicks
- League Bowling
- Metal Slug
- Magical Lord
- Baseball Stars Professional
- Samurai Shodown
- King of Fighters ’94
- Fatal Fury
The device also has 2GB of storage and a 4.3 inch screen.
I loved the Neo Geo Pocket when I was a child and I hope to see this new device released to western audiences.
